5 Sawyers -

We were asked to provide venue and branding advice to a group of well-respected publicans who owned a bar on a very popular eat street in Newcastle. Despite an ideal location, the venue wasn’t enjoying the same popularity.

Our instincts, confirmed by research, told us something was very wrong so we suggested closing the doors and starting again. Fortunately, we had our clients’ unwavering support and our strategy to begin again led us to this brand story.

Research, name + brand, venue design, website, print, press.

We knew people wanted a place to go where they could take in some interesting atmosphere, a place where people can soak up the stories of our past, enjoy the region’s produce and take in some quirky artworks that give the bar its authentic roots. Our inspiration for 5 Sawyers came from the idea of blending the area’s rich history with the eclectic artists that gives Cooks Hill so much of its vibrant character. The standout brand, mural, website and philosophy has set the benchmark for small bars in Newcastle.
