Taking Bush Fire preparation online

Get Ready Weekend is the largest activation of NSW RFS members outside of firefighting operations. Every year, this event encourages NSW RFS Brigades and Districts to engage with their local community, discuss local bush fire risk and help residents understand how to plan and prepare for bush fires. A state-wide media campaign supports Get Ready Weekend, held in September.

RFS Get Ready Weekend Brand Asset

Strategy


Traditionally, brigades hold their Get Ready Weekend events face-to-face in their local communities. However, due to physical distancing restrictions in 2020, the NSW RFS were looking to take Get Ready Weekend online and connect with their local communities in new ways.

We were tasked with helping NSW RFS deliver the Get Ready Weekend experience online and also develop an informative social media campaign to enhance their efforts.

Results


We worked closely with NSW RFS to develop a strategy, content plan, key messages and creative assets to implement Get Ready Weekend Online with their 2000+ brigades.

Supported by a series of user-friendly ‘How To Guides’, brigades were able to successfully deliver Get Ready Weekend Online through online meetings and a social media campaign via Facebook.
