The Get Ready Weekend, held in September, is the largest activation of NSW RFS members outside of firefighting operations and plays a crucial role in engaging local communities, discussing bush fire risks, and educating residents on planning and preparation. 

In 2020, faced with physical distancing restrictions, the RFS had to adapt and take the campaign online, finding new ways to connect with their local communities.

The challenge was to deliver the Get Ready Weekend experience virtually and create an informative social media campaign to enhance their efforts.

We developed a comprehensive strategy, content plan, key messages, and creative assets to enable over 2000 brigades to conduct Get Ready Weekend Online. With user-friendly ‘How To Guides,’ brigades successfully delivered the event through online meetings and a targeted social media campaign on Facebook.

The initiative’s results were impactful, ensuring the continuity of essential community engagement amidst challenging circumstances. The Get Ready Weekend Online successfully empowered residents with valuable information on bush fire preparation and strengthened the NSW RFS’s outreach efforts in safeguarding communities from potential fire risks.
