GO FOGO.
Changing behaviours for the better in the Shire

Sutherland Shire

Sutherland Shire Council approached us to help roll out Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) across the Shire.

The challenge wasn’t simply awareness. It was behaviour change.

We started by identifying the barriers to correct FOGO use and the moments where communication could make the biggest difference. From what goes into the kitchen caddy and green lid FOGO bin, to emptying the caddy and remembering weekly collection, we mapped the behaviours residents needed to adopt and built the communications around them.

This gave us a clear message hierarchy and channel strategy — using simple instruction at decision points, broader education where residents had time to engage, and consistent reinforcement across the rollout.

The result was GO FOGO — a behaviour-led campaign that made the right action simple, memorable and easy to get behind.

Working with Jumbla, we created a vibrant illustration style inspired by the Shire, a cast of relatable local characters, and a family of 30, 15 and 6-second films that showed the right FOGO behaviours in action.

We took the message across the Shire, from OOH to garbage truck wraps, keeping the right behaviour visible and reinforcing how to FOGO correctly.

We created a broader communications ecosystem to reinforce the right FOGO behaviours at every touchpoint — from community events and resident Starter Kits to household collateral and decision-point materials, like bin tags that make it clear what goes in and what stays out. Merchandise gave locals another way to get behind GO FOGO and build visibility in the community.
